This is the original forum of the Bristol Railway Archive that existed between 2003 and 2013. I finally rescued it after it seemed unrecoverable after a large crash. I have made it available for viewing. It is locked, all posts to the new version please!
Climate campaigners have stopped a train taking coal to one of europes biggest power station, just south of drax power station in north yorkshire, using a red flag.......search-drax protest CHIPPY.
Bloody climate protesters make enough hot air themselves to bring about climate change. Whilst i do not believe in made made global warming myself. i do believe in right of peaceful protest and constructive debate. Stopping a coal train does not in my book fall into any of those. It could lead to the disruption of a lot of peoples electricity, including hospitals. Personally i think they should be prosecuted for endangering peoples lives. I am sorry if i offend anybodybut i think they are pratts
Spotted in Todays Railways magazine, update to Drax campainers.
29 protesters charged over protest over climate change. 28 appeared in Selby magistrates court 18th August. 17 pled not guilty rest not entered plea, 1 was not in court.
All bailed until 29th October.
was this the one where they stopped the train with red flags then started unloading the train with shovels?, they should have been charged under the terrorizm act the poor driver must have s**t him self, as i think they had white overalls on if i remember right.
In work there are daily warnings to be aware of " climate protesters".Apparently they will target distibution points as well as power stations. We are to report anyone paying more then a passing intreast in he loading of trains.
What do they want? Nuclear?! 'Coz we sure as s**t ain't gonna make it with bleedin' wind turbines. Typical hippies; protest about the current problem with not a scooby doo about how to solve it or provide an alternative.
Yes please, milk, no sugar
Perhaps everyone should stick on an extra wooly pully and make loadsa lerve
They say (who ever they are) that you can't please everyone all the time, but you can't please any of them any of the time
Put them all on pedal bikes coupled to a dynamo and feed them energy pills and whip em if they slack been known to work on slave ships!!
Tugboat: It's been done already!!
Hat's off to these human generators! I've actually seen a film and music night that was powered completely by bike riders - and not a radical activist amongst any of them!
Jules thinks: Hmm, now how many would it take to replace a 47 power unit?
Or put another way, if you took an average 640 seat train of ten Mk III's, with every passenger peddling, you'd only generate 2% of the power necessary to get it moving.
