Bloody climate protesters make enough hot air themselves to bring about climate change. Whilst i do not believe in made made global warming myself. i do believe in right of peaceful protest and constructive debate. Stopping a coal train does not in my book fall into any of those. It could lead to the disruption of a lot of peoples electricity, including hospitals. Personally i think they should be prosecuted for endangering peoples lives. I am sorry if i offend anybodybut i think they are pratts

What do they want? Nuclear?! 'Coz we sure as s**t ain't gonna make it with bleedin' wind turbines. Typical hippies; protest about the current problem with not a scooby doo about how to solve it or provide an alternative.

There, rant over. Kettle's on. Who wants a brew?

Tugboat: It's been done already!!

Hat's off to these human generators! I've actually seen a film and music night that was powered completely by bike riders - and not a radical activist amongst any of them!

Jules thinks: Hmm, now how many would it take to replace a 47 power unit? :D

OK, ok. Call me sad! It's a quiet Saturday evening!!

Take one x Class 47 at 2,750bhp.

2750 * 746 = 2.051MW

From the bike generator's website:

http://www.magnificentrevolution.org/about-2/
Our largest system uses 12 bikes, 24 legs, to power up to 800W of DC or AC mains power.
So, one bike generates 66.6666r W, so you need 30,772.5 cyclists to replace a Class 47's Sulzer 12LDA28.

Peddle faster for a bit of train heat too :D

Or put another way, if you took an average 640 seat train of ten Mk III's, with every passenger peddling, you'd only generate 2% of the power necessary to get it moving.

I'm going to bed!!! :?
