This is the original forum of the Bristol Railway Archive that existed between 2003 and 2013. I finally rescued it after it seemed unrecoverable after a large crash. I have made it available for viewing. It is locked, all posts to the new version please!
Use this forum to talk about the railways in and around Bristol, or for any off-topic stuff you want to share. Also request photos and information that you are missing.
I'd love to call them atmospheric, but for some reason they look creepy and threatening. Maybe that's just because it's a deserted modern unstaffed station (about as unwelcoming as you can get), or maybe it's because I know who the photographer was.
The creepiest thing I ever saw at Filton was long before Abbey Wood station was built. I was shunting in the erstwhile coal yard back in the 80's when a Cardiff - Portsmouth train met a Porstmouth -Cardiff train on the same bit of track. One or other of them had "spadded" on the then single lead junction, but mercifully stopped yards short of each other.
