I did wonder about this.

The murder that the police are currently investigating at Iron Acton was reported on Points West with the additional information that the railway line had been closed whilst police carried out their investigations.

Just what was it closed to, I wondered :?:

I went past the quarry entrance early one morning some time ago and noticed a number of road/rail machines had been dropped off in the entrance. Maybe they were doing some work on the lines within the quarry.

I did hear a while ago that the line was being used to train Plant M/C operators, maybe this is the reason. Of course westerleigh used to be used but must be really busy with oil trains making this trickey.

I guess as a matter of formality they have too. This would have been mentioned in the press release and the press would have viewed this as an extra nugget to strengthen the story.

The line to Tytherington is still open to traffic so the police would ensure they were adequately protected before going on the line. There was a T2T on for a couple of days to protect them.

While there is no regular traffic on the branch at the moment the weed killer was booked to go down there a few weeks ago. Whether it did or not I can't say as I wasn't working that shift.
