Having first noticed them about 5 years ago on my regular trips to Warminster from Cheltenham they had interested me. A row of beautiful houses just left to rot away, after such a beautiful trip through Sydney Gardens and a footbridge that seeming went nowhere.

I have never been to the street ...

Stations at Avonmouth

I went to Avonmouth yesterday (drawn in by the huge plums of smoke I could see from Weston-super-Mare) having taken the family there for the weekend.

I went on the hunt for the former train stations that use to be there. But after finding the current station and further down the road the old Docks ...

Think Sydney Gardens was only open for the use by a Princess but cant be sure, I remember reading it was there ...

Hotwells, Avonmouth & Chittening

I have just loaned out a book called the Atlas of the Great Western Railway by R.A. Cooke. Im finding the book is very informative but it is also bringing up a number of questions in my head about stations that I had never even heard of before, namely the fact the book has 2 Hotwells stations.

The ...

Sorry to bring this old subject back up but I was in the Central Library yesterday looking in a few railway books. I stupidly forgot to take the name of a book I looked in that had an interesting black and white overhead picture of Temple Meads which included the goods yard and the line that led to ...

re-doubling the Swindon to Kemble route would certainly have a hugh benefit on rail traffic in that area, and would probably cut the travelling time from Cheltenham to Swindon.

Bristol Temple Meads

Hi everyone
