New Book on Bristol stations
New Book on Bristol stations
I just thought Id post this as I noticed while searching Amazon for any interesting railway books. Mike Oakley is releasing a new book on railway stations and halts, this time Bristol is the subject. I will be putting this one on order when its pay day.

My experience of Mike's books (that being the Gloucestershire Railway Stations book) is that they are packed full of info and are an absolute must in any railyway collection though sometimes a few stations can be missed out in Gloucestershire I know of Gatcombe and Swindon (near Cheltenham) probably due to very little information being known about them. I'm certainly struggling for info on them to pad out there page on my 'in progress' website.

Petes Shop Where ?
Hi
Where is Petes Shop ?
Re Gloslines and his comment about Gatcombe being missed out of a book on Gloucestershire stations , is it in Gloucestershire?
I well remember all the work going on when Anne married Mark in 73 ? as they re-opened the station just so he and she could travel by train,

I'll make a post when the book turns up, so don't come before!Portishead Prowler wrote:I'll be getting my copy at lunch today hopefully!
The rep has promised me the first batch off the printers, and says she'll deliver them asap. But sometimes what they say and what they do are two different things! We'll see.

Thanks for coming so far out of your way to buy it in our shop, this was much appreciated.Portishead Prowler wrote:Having picked up my copy on Saturday, got to say this is a good read.
We had the day from hell after you had gone. The Switch machine finally gave up the ghost, and once I'd fixed that by utilising my broadband line, the network server crashed and never got going again! I'm only now beginning to catch up with everything outstanding, although BT have still to fix the phone line so I get cut off from the outside world everytime a customer buys something!
I need an holiday......
