OK, the forums' URL is similar in part to a web site that apparently could have malware that could harm a computer. The forum itself doesn't seem to have any such thing, indeed I'd find it very hard to believe that the person(s) running a railway forum would do so!

As far as I know most sites ...

Thanks for that. Looks as though we are going to be too early for the 67s to cross the border into Wales.

Loco hauled FGW and ATW services

I may be going the Shrewsbury for the day on Saturday(25th) and, if possible, I'd like to take the chance to travel on the FGW Class 57/67 loco hauled services and the Arriva class 57 loco hauled services.

I've misplaced my list of the timings of the FGW services. Can anybody tell me which trains ...

Does anyone know how long it was after the accident it was officially decided the bridge would not be repaired?

"Officially" - no idea

"Unofficially" - about 5 minutes. Traffic levels would no longer warrant it, although of course it was also used as a diversionary route when the Severn Tunnel ...

What I heard was that the stations used to be much more central to the shopping area (St Phillips more than Temple Meads). The main shopping area used to be old market but it moved towards the docks after heavy bombing during the second world war, leaving the stations a bit far out.

Stav - you are entirely right. This shot is looking down the GWR line towards Stapleton Road station.

I assume that the sidings are part of the large scrap yard that was on that side of the line between Stapleton Road station and the Severn Beach line (now restricted to a small area on Gatton Road).

It's interesting that the two surviving (but disused?) gas holders aren't even built in this photo.

A Geographia Plan Of Bristol from sometime in the 1960's doesn't show the gas holder in the photo below at the end of Narroways Road. It shows the two gas holders near to the Rovers ground which ...

They would be located next to the GWR mainline, just the far side of the road underbridge.

70002 is to be based at Stoke Gifford for driver training.

Does anybody know whether it is currently parked in a visible position?

Warmley Signal Box refurbishment

Cycled past the signal box at Warmley on Saturday and there are notices up saying that the "Save Warmley and Siston Green Spaces" group are planning to restore it "to its former glory".

Not sure whether that means a historically accurate restoration or that they'll DIY it until it looks nice.
