This is the original forum of the Bristol Railway Archive that existed between 2003 and 2013. I finally rescued it after it seemed unrecoverable after a large crash. I have made it available for viewing. It is locked, all posts to the new version please!
What started out as an interesting post ...
Still good luck to who ever owns locos and where ever they go.
How complete are they, notice in several of the photos small number of parts missing. Rods possibly removed to ease moving onto transport trailers.
Well if I knew I'd stirred up a nest of W. D hornets I perhaps shouldn't have started the topic off in the first place!( I say this with tongue in cheek of course) Though at least were able to see the locos at Portbury Thanks to the pictures supplied.
Myself I will look forward to perhaps reading about the happenings in our area in and around Bristol and never bring up the subjects of the (Don't mention the War) W. D locos ever again !
Regards to all and Happy new year too. Anthony
Anyways..... so are they still at Portbury or have they shifted now? Its been an interesting story & ive enjoyed the wait for them to arrive & the pics are great. Hope to see more soon.
Interesting link there Bristolian I've just been perusing it and so one up to Northumberland then? The other a bit closer to home though perhaps not able to be viewed?

Hello Tim,
Might I ask what browser you're using?
The website is only a railway forum! I use Opera - which is regarded as the safest browser, by default...

Google Chrome on Mac. The whole screen goes red when I click on the link. Strangely Chrome on PC doesn't have the same reaction. I don't dare try it with Internet Explorer in case it really does have malware.

Neither is geography, Antnee. Shildon is in County Durham.
And to think I used to drive all over the country when I was at work, and find all these places without a sat nav too, perhaps someone has moved the border ! "I do stand corrected of course and beg your humble forgiveness your honour". I hope you can laugh about my sense of humour as I think as long as we all have the subject of Bristol, steam locos, and whats left of the surrounding area's railways at heart we are doing it right. Though to get back to the 8F's. It will perhaps be quite a few years before either is up and running. What does anyone else think?
Regards to all Antnee
P.S Well anyway north of Watford (Herts?) is strange country!
