So they run an unreliable, dirty, expensive service on branches, lengthening journey times and cutting frequency, and then report that people don't use it. At least Beeching had to lie about the figures...our railways today have been run into the ground so sadly the usage figures are probably true. They remove passing loops, cut 4 track to 2, and 2 track to 1, and then complain that local services are holding up expresses. Our rail network is dying of shame more than anything. A bit like the country...there's **** all to be proud of now.

**** Tony Blair and his government full of car-loving ****heads. He's not my Prime Minister.

This sums up New Labour. The Tories wreck the railways and their mates pocket personal windfalls from giving our assets away. Blair's lot wring their hands and say they can't do anything about it - how about renationalising the lot without compensation? Now they say they will have to shut the branch lines down because they can't afford the massive subsidies caused by the privatisation scheme.

I get that funny old feeling that I am being ripped off.
