Good Evening
Just doing the washing up (sad Life I know) saw a rather strange sight sat at the signal on the exit from St. Philips HST Yard. A 3 car DMU of the type taht used to be on the Manchester Picc/Buxton laine in the 1960s most of the windows along the side of the front and rear coach have been filled in, the centre car had 4 windows, as far as I could see there were no logos anywhere on the set at all nor any number, I was looking through ex navel binoclulars 12 X 35, not stood on the platform. just thought someone may know what it was/is and what it is doing in the area, maybe it's doing a running test over the Portishead line for passenger use (some luck - about the same as mine winning tonights lotto when i do not have aticket
By for now

Sounds like the Network Rail track recording unit, I forget the number, but a member of the support crew on a recent railtour reported that it was at St. Phillips Marsh depot.
It was converted from a class 101 DMU, and the centre car is an ex Southern Region "BIG" EMU buffet car.
Edit: here we are...930001

Thanks James
I could not see any number on the front of the cab nor on the off-side (not drivers side) my view was quite good in thI could see the driver had a beard and was drinking a can of Pepsi Max, as I could plainly see the print on thecan - but numbers no. No big deal but it sure looked like a DMU from my Buxton/Edale walking days.
Forgot to say it was bright yellow all over, and no even if I had bought a ticket I would not have won.
Night night
