LONDON (ShareCast) - Bus and rail group FirstGroup (LSE: FGP.L - news) said overall trading in the first three months of the year is in line with its expectations, with progress made across all divisions.
At today's AGM in Aberdeen, the company will tell shareholders its North American unit delivered a sixth year of strong growth, with over 20,000 yellow school buses operated after the acquisition of Cardinal.
The UK bus business saw growth in work with local authorities to implement bus priority and other traffic management measures.
Rail had an "excellent" year, FirstGroup said, with turnover exceeding ú1bn and operating profit up at ú68m, reflecting a "strong operating performance and increased passenger volumes...as well as the start up of First ScotRail last year."
