My Dad was responsible for ordering this and the other diesel locos at the smelting works and for scrapping the steam fleet - I've just about forgiven him for that !

I really wish I'd seen those kettles at work down there. :( We need pics! (as always!)

As much as I love this website, it does make me spend huge chunks of the day kicking myself..

unfortunately the only ones I've got are these:

http://simon71.fotopic.net/p22278812.html

Plus a few of it at the Avon Valley (also on my fotopic site). Hopefully it will be put back inot service one day soon.

I've been through my dad's photos and can't find any others so far.

I used to have his report on the cost of conversion which gave details of all the locos that used to operate at the works including the ex-GWR pannier tank.

I've got a book at home which has an Ivor Peter's picture of one of the narrow gauge steam engines that also worked down there (also a victim of my dad's mini modernisation plan)

I'd be very interested in seeing that. Any chance of scanning it?

Thanks for re-activating this thread, Simon, as it prompted me to have a look at Neil Higson's pictures. That guy certainly knows how to take an interesting photo :)

Not for a while now. However, I was at the Tyre depot pictured on Saturday (ok it belongs to diff people now) having a coffee with the lads and I noted that the site has been cleared and is now being advertised as a Rail Connected site for production/warehousing facilities.
We shall see - be good to see a bit more rail freight round the area!
