34043 'Coombe Martin' at Feeder Road

Post by APW »

I passed under Feeder Road bridge today at 13:26 and heard a "PEEP" sound, so I stopped just passed to bridge and looked back.

For about 10 seconds there was nothing but then 34043 'Coombe Martin' chuffed past pulling 10-or-so Pullman Cars, two WR MK1's, and what looked like a WR Mk1 Super BG. Beautiful!

It was heading into Bristol.

If only I had my camera. :-(

34043????? You've seen a ghost!

I suspect it was more likely to be 34045 "Ottery St Mary", or rather rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific 34027 "Taw Valley" running in her current disguise

The Victoria-Bath VSOE trip was meant to be hauled by unrebuilt 34067 "Tangmere" but she's in the works at the moment having firebox stays replaced.

Erm, I didn't see the name rather I looked up the name for what I thought was 34043.

Perhaps I misread the number.

I stoped off at alexandra park in Bath today for a bit of lunch, which has a excellent view of Bath spa. As i was having a sandwitch and watching trains pull in and out i wasn't sure if i was seeing things when i saw it steaming into Bath, a pleasant suprise that made my day :D

Is a steam hauled VSOE a regular runner into Bath and Bristol?

Steam Rail Tours 2005: Goto http://www.uksteam.info/tours/trs05.htm and scroll down to 'Wed 02-Mar' and it's there.

The next VSOE into Bath and Bristol appears to be Sat 28-May!

Mon 28-Mar looks interesting!
