what is this box on wheels?

at Filton Abbey Wood, there were two parts to it, but what is it? Can someone tell me what it is used for?

It looks like a Matisa product. Maybe a track tamping or measurements machine.

Thanks. I didn't really get the chance for a profile shot, or make a mental note of markings or details. Perhaps I ought to have taken a picture of it as it rounded the bend into the station.

I found this piccy on line. It looks very similar to the one you saw. Matisa tamping machine.
