As usual good photos, highlights the mish-mash of liveries perfectly.
Don't seem to see a full set same colour too often which is a shame, I doubt there is much spare lying around.

Yes, excellent photos!

Rich, I don't suppose you have a decent shot of the signal gantry that I can use on the website. Or an earlier view of this train that also shows the view towards the tunnel?

I have some shots from when the gantry was installed (circa w/o 22 May 2008) but unfortunately the weather was poor to obismal (the usual Pilning micro-climate) and all shots are noisy from the higher ISO settings/ dark weather.

Again if you want to use any let me know.

(a) Has someone decided (presumably after a few years use) that signals are easier to see if they are in front of bridges rather than behind them?

(b) Why such a substantial gantry for three signals instead of mounting them on the side of the bridge?

All signals are bespoke for the location to provide maximum line of sight so i guess it's the most suitable solution.

I'd also hazard a guess the reason for it's relocation/ installation is for a proposed increase in line speed.
