Bristol Temple Meads

Post by Graham »

Great site! Fascinating look at trains and stations throughout modern and past times. I'm already addicted to the rail after recently starting to travel from Bath Spa to Cheltenham Spa on Wessex trains (changing at Bristol TM) every weekday! Anyway, would it be possible to get some modern pics of Bristol Temple Meads if possible?
Thanks, and keep it up! :)

Do you use the one that 'splits' at Gloucester to form the 8.36 on to Chelters? All good fun and just enough time for a ciggy.

I normally get a Virgin service from Bristol to Cheltenham if I have to be there fast (apart from thursdays, I used to get the 10:20 Southampton Cent-Bristol TM at Oldfield Park, then the 10:44 Wessex service to Cheltenham). But in the morning when I arrive at 7:45 from Bath I get the 7:58 Virgin service to Newcastle stopping at Chelters on the way - I arrive at 8:45 then, perfect timing to walk to uni by 9:15!

However, getting a train on the way back from Cheltenham to Bristol is different. I almost always get the Wessex services that pull into Gloucester from Cheltenham or Worcester Shrub Hill, as they are MUCH less packed than the Virgin trains travelling from Edinburgh to Penzance...I almost always can get a table to myself too :)
