6th December King Ed I and Bittern at Temple Meads

Post by mow »

Have just noticed that UK Steam is now listing that Bittern 60019 will be bringing in a rescheduled tour to Bath and Bristol on Sat 6th Dec. The times have not yet been posted.

King Edward I is scheduled to take a Torbay Express for Past Time Rail out of Temple Meads earlier on 9.21 am.

Watched the engine run quietly at speed through Sydney Gardens this lunchtime. One guy had reckoned that the train was 60 mins late so about 6 people in front of me left. In the end it was late by about 30 minutes. Has anyone else seen it today? Shots below.

We popped down to Saltford where Bittern bimbled along at a not so frantic pace...

I have just read two posts on Yahoo SWRG stating that the 6024 King Edward I failed at Exeter tonight.

Sunday morning. Posters on Nat Pres suggested that there was a problem with some pipework, which can be fixed for next weekend.

i saw this engine last night when i was on my way back from the millwall match i had to change at salisbury & it was already in the station when i arrived they were filling it from a fire service water tanker it was such a great engine to see & as i had a 40min wait for the next train back to bristol i was able to stand at the end of the platform to watch it leave the station, my dad was a steam engine driver before diesels took over & i must admit it brought back memories of long chats with him about the steam days, i expect these trips are very expensive to go on but every coach was packed full & 1st class i could see them all eating roast dinners & as i had about 10 or so pints throughout the day i was bloody starving lol it was great to see & the smell of a steam engine you just can't beat it

Standard ticket with Steam Dreams is ú59.50...I don't think that's unreasonable. They also do a ú5 single/ú10 return walk-up "local" fare if you want to do Bath - Bristol.
