5619 visits Avon Valley Railway (from Telford Steam Railway)

GWR 0-6-2T 5619 will be visitng the AVR from the 20th Feb for two weeks.
This is subject to it passing its steam test this week.
Look at the AVR website for more details.

And there was me thinking I'd be the first to post this red-hot information. Oh well. Been away for too long. It's probably my punishment for getting all excited about a large co-co type 5 diesel when someone told me we had a '56' visiting. Still, I can dream. But in other news, 73 101 has been repainted during its stint at the Severn Valley and is due to rejoin us in the next few months after a visit to the Llangollen diesel gala: picture of it looking very shiny indeed at http://www.preserved-diesels.co.uk/2008a/73101_1.htm.

Back on the subject of 5619, subject to satisfactory steam test it is due to work two days' passenger trains: Sun 24 Feb (an additional date which has been arranged specially, normal timetable and fares apply as far as I am aware) and the advertised service on Sun 02 Mar.

For those of you who have not yet seen the loco, No.5619 is in BR livery and is facing Bath Green Park ! It was in steam this morning and may move this afternoon. <BJ>

5619 is running light engine between Bitton and Oldland.
First run appeared to be at approx 15:20. <BJ>

No problems encountered with No.5619 during running in. The loco is already hauling service trains today and will hopefully do the same next Sunday.
The first train this morning, blasted out of Bitton towards Oldland Common. It's well worth a ride on the train or simply a visit just to see it.

A rather dull and shortly after this photo was taken damp day!! Not the best of photo's, 5619 is seen at Avon Riverside before accelerating pretty impressively towards Bitton.

I like the shot from the hillside across the field. Had thought about trying to find the triple arch viaduct, but opted for lineside shots.
