'The Captain Sensible' to Brighton
Online source
Join us for what is guaranteed to be a very unpredictable journey to Brighton with the The Captain himself aboard!
We will pick you up at one of the designated stations and then we will make our way to this brilliant destination. On arrival Captain Sensible will officially name one of the 'Cotswold Rail' fleet of Class 47 locomotives.
In Brighton, you will have time to shop, sightsee or visit the local attractions - whatever you choose to do. We aim to give you about 4 hours in Brighton - although this is subject to change depending on the final timings we are given by Network Rail.
This one will sell out quickly - so please book early to avoid disappointment - bookings are being taken now.

Can you believe it.... they are naming a locomotive after your old chum Captain Sensible.... amazing stuff, eh! And to celebrate this spectacular (especially for a train enthusiast like myself) occasion on Sat 10th Feb 2007 Heartland Rail are putting on an excursion from Gloucester to sunny Brighton where apparantly there are lots and lots of pubs, boutiques, clubs.... oh, and did I mention pubs yet? Anyway, I will be officially naming the locomotive on arrival at some ceremony or other - not to be missed stuff!
It's a funny old thing that I've not heard a good theory for yet but there ARE a fair old few Damned fans who have been known to dabble in a bit of 'trainspotting' occasionally. Well, there's also 2 of us in the band - myself and Stu (which might have SOMETHING to do with it - Tintin) and we shall both be onboard the Sensible Express waffling away with the other passangers and gratefully accepting the offer of the odd bevvy or two!
AND, rumour has it that I may be singing a couple of songs at one point while the train is in transit but please.... don't let THAT put you off as I'm sure a good time will be had by one and all.
So, for those that are interested here's the details for the trip, cheers - CS
