Collision at Badminton

Two engineers trains have apparently collided somewhere close to Badminton. Four people hurt and heavy lifting equipment required to sort out the mess. 50 homes evacuated!

All South Wales- London services calling at Patchway instead of Parkway and then going via Filton bank.

Currently no estimate being given on the line reopening.

The collision occured when a tamping machine ran into the rear of a ballast regulator that had stoped near the old Badminton Station.

Oh dear engineering department again must be a replay of the last time they performed in the 1970s they put some overtime in the bath road drivers pocket gawd bless em!

normal working resumed at 3pm today ,nice to see accurate reporting from the media constantly using the word trains when they are just machines .

With regard to this mornings collision. The collision occurred at the site of
the former Badminton Station. The Stoneblower had stopped to pick up a pw gang
when the tamper rammed it up the rear. Apparently the driver of the tamper had
not been told the Stoneblower would be stopping and proceeded without caution.

60093 was used to drag the tamper from the scene back to Chipping Sodbury Up
Loop where it was dumped and the 60 headed off in the direction of Bristol
Parkway.

The Stoneblower was pushed by Freightliner Class 66 66551 into the sidings at
Chipping Sodbury and then left heading towards Swindon.

About 10 minutes after the 66 left the scene an up FGW HST passed slowly along
the line.

Both lines should now be open for traffic.
