I only ever recall being chased out of the sidings where the Warships and D63xx were dumped at St Philips Marsh. We used to go there on wet Sunday afternoons in the 70s to see what we could unscrew and keep, somewhat in awe of the machines that only a few months previously had been powering up Filton Bank. Didn't really understand what was happening at our tender age - it seemed awfully wrong and I guess to us, it was the same as the loss of steam to the previous generation.I don't ever remember being slung out of any Bristol depot - I beat the odd hasty retreat from Bath Road as I recall, after going over the wall at the back, but never actually slung out.
One afternoon, there happened to be one railway staffer there (very rare for anyone to be around) and he shouted at us "Get off out of it" or something like that. We took off and ran - but it probably wouldn;t have mattered if we'd just ignored him - he didn't seem that keen to chase us from afar.
If only I'd kept all those bits - they would come in useful now at Williton!
