Wouldn't it be fantastic if roadworks were tackled by Network Rail? Instead of months worth of delays just get a big gang of skilled men in place and do the lot in one weekend.

What is clear in the pics, everyone has a job to do and is doing it, certainly no one standing about leaning on shovels having a fag whilst chatting about the headlines of The Sun.

Have to admit to being a tad disappointed to find out that all they've done is replace Narroways Junction - tho always good to have good maintenance taking place.

Took a trip on the Severn Beach line the other week - just for summat to do - and saw all the new track and machinery laid out. Was ever hopeful at the time that we were maybe getting back our quadruple lines, tho alas this appears not to be.

Ah well, u never know wot may come in the future. After all - we're already getting a new platform at Parkway, with rumours abound that a platform 4 may be on its way in the not too distant future aswell!

I was hoping that too!

thought it would be a good idea having quad lines back again, could bypass the slower stopping services at Lawrence Hill and Stapleton Road and trains too and from the Severn Beach line.

Exactly, was even hoping that if we got our 4 lines back we may see the return of Ashley Down and Horfield Stations! Like I said - ever hopeful!

Good news on the Parkway front tho - just started a new topic on that.

Newbie on the Forum, but that was my set of points going in at Narrow ways on the week-end.
We also have them installed at Bedminster, Uphill, Bridgwater and Highbridge.

I think you will find that the yellow speed signs are temporary speeds.

And yes it is an unusual shot in they all seem to be working.

I remember sitting on that bank in the early 70's.

Fantastic pic. The stuff of my childhood.

We used to sit on the ledge under the concrete bridge - all day. Probably risking our lives swinging our way down there, but nobody cared back then.

The ledge is still there ... but the fences make it impossible and I'm not a kid anymore

I do love the old pics of the gasworks though. Heady stuff! Got anymore?

Someone was hanging around behind the fence that's along the old Ashley Hill platform this morning...anyone here?
