Bittern Cathdrals Express Revised Route Cardiff Dec 5th

Bittern with a Cathedrals Express to Cardiff has been rerouted via Gloucester, due to engineering work on The Severn Tunnel on Dec 5th.

To save posting another duplicate thread called "Cathedrals Express" referencing 60019, I thought I'd post this here...

Very much off piste for this site, 60019 headed up the Cathedral Express to Worcester yesterday, seen here at Standish Junction, Glos. Up until 15mins before arrival the skies were blue with fluffy white clouds and then turned in a right "pea soup'er" which meant bumping the ISO right up and having to faff about with the image to get to get rid of the noise and adjust the colours...I'd fitted my Polarizing Filter on the front in prep, but as the grey cloud rolled in I started to get the filter wrench out just as it turned up

Looking forward to next weekend...

I saw Bittern yesterday at a crossing near Ashchurch. There was plenty of steam visible when the engine approached the road bridge, then everying disappeared.

I also had to crank up the ISO setting, it was on 800 for my shots, after I saw how dark the test of a X country train had become.

Nice pictures! It must have sounded great too.

I've never seen an A4 on the move. I saw Mallard at the NRM and Dominion Of Canada at the Canadian Railway Museum near Montreal. The poor thing was stuck at the back of one of the exhibit sheds looking rather uncared for, that was about 15 years ago and hopefully things have changed.

Thankfully Mallard is cared for, however she will never move under her own steam on BR...

The preserved lines are a bit of a tame environment for a thoroughbred...try some mainline footage:

60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley" at Keynsham

The footage of 60009 at Chippenham made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! Fantastic! I thought the station announcement had been left a bit late though,
