From the Wessex Trains newsletter - may be of interest to users of the line. Not clear what the event is about, but I assume that there will be some discusion about the use of the line.

Severn Beach Line
Brilliant new Severn Beach photos, but how did he get them? Hope it's not trespassing!
I've never been to Severn Beach but now I have to! It may not be the most beautiful of locations in the classical interpretation of the word, but the sense of space, of windswept industrial decay, of dereliction, desolation and abandonment in those photos is incredible! I should think standing on Severn Beach station as the train leaves would be on a par with the feelings an astronaut would experience standing on the surface of the moon watching his ship take off without him

Nope, Mike's job allows him access to places the rest of us can't go.James wrote:Brilliant new Severn Beach photos, but how did he get them? Hope it's not trespassing!![]()
snigger....James wrote:I've never been to Severn Beach but now I have to! It may not be the most beautiful of locations
As I've said before, a railway that runs for miles through a wilderness to serve a handful of people. Money that should have been spent on keeping a railway running through Whitehall, Fishponds, Staple Hill.... places where people live and income can be generated... (I know, I know.... I'm boring everyone again...James wrote:in the classical interpretation of the word, but the sense of space, of windswept industrial decay, of dereliction, desolation and abandonment in those photos is incredible!
Blimey days, never have I heard Severn Beach talked about in such a poetic way....James wrote:I should think standing on Severn Beach station as the train leaves would be on a par with the feelings an astronaut would experience standing on the surface of the moon watching his ship take off without him
Anyway, a great set of pics, and I would have thought that Mike's contribution (and Geralds, when I get it online next week) must make this website the most comprehensive study of the Severn Beach line anywhere in the world. Brilliant stuff, and a joy to upload!
