van accident

Post by chippy »

There is a fuller report on the bath chronicle web-site today,It seems the van driver opened one gate, drove onto the line and then got out to open the other gate, instead of opening both at the same time and driving over, and closing both gates after. There is also some confusion over the lights, some say a simple red for stop and green for go would be better than the system they have at the moment,It says there is a white light in the mix as well...confused;I am.....

Glass's Crossing is a white light crossing. There is no red / green light, only a white light. If the white light is lit then it's safe to cross, if it unlit then it is not safe. Thus, for example if the bulb blows the crossing "fails safe" and doesn't authorise people to cross.
