Whats in the boxes?

Post by nickt »

I was taking a stroll along the Kennet & Avon canal wednesday evening about 6.30 when a long EWS hauled train came through heading Bristol direction. The train consisted of numerous light blue vans in sets of four mainly. But these sets of four vans were joined by a concertina type canopy ( like the bendy busses. ), and the joint between one set of four and the next was an ordinary coupling. There did not appear to be any side doors or windows only presumed doors in ends of groups.
Has any one seen this movement before or know what is being carried. I've a hunch it might be cars to/from Portbury. This may be a regular train as my son saw similar movement passing through Sydney gardens at about the same time a few days ago. The one thing I'm sure of is that this is not the bin liner.

Goes past me near Wylye in the late afternoon every week day. Probably linked to this little boat on its way out of Southampton

In fact it went past me today, saturday.

I will try and get a photograph.

Yep thats the chap. It's interesting to see the train is made up of 5car sections. I assume they are split into 5 car lots for loading then shunted.
