Good choice of location, I had wondered if that part of the line was worth heading for.

Isn't there a farm cross somewhere near Claverton Pumping Station? Or am I imagining things?

As you are probably aware the above shots are from the A4 opposite Kelston House.

Yes there is a crossing next to Claverton Pumping Station. There's a reasonable view looking south from the crossing which would probably be ok for both coming towards and going away type shots. You just need to be about 10ft tall!!

I was initially going to try and photo 34067 at this location below (which is just before Claverton Pumping Station), but I thought that the crosswind might blow steam/smoke over the loco/coaches so opted for Kelston instead as I thought (wrongly) that the wind would be more head on.

There are also reasonable shots from both the aquaducts.

Thanks for taking trouble to post the images. I would have had time to get over to Claverton on Thursday - wasn't quite so sure about Avoncliffe given the diversions on the A36. It looks as if it was a missed opportunity.
