The council have announced that they are to press ahead with the construction of a link road from the M4 to Emmersons Green.
This will be built along the route of the old LMS mainline from a point just south of Westerleigh Oil Terminal, linking in with the current road system at a point just north of Shortwood sidings.

Of course, nobody considered reinstating a rail link from Emmersons Green to both Yate and the centre of Bristol all of which could be built at the same time as the motorway link and sharing the budget.
