Well, went and had a look today (10th April) and there's lots going on. The mainline to Bristol has completely gone, there's lots of machinery digging up and replacing the trackbed, and the platform face has been built.
It looks like they're putting polythene drainage under the mainlines while replacing both running lines as well as laying a new line. Lots of track machinery and lots of class 66s.
Took some pics, and they've come out nice. I'll get them online early next week.

Filton Abbey Wood
It's nice to hear that something new is being ADDED to Britain's railway network...all the news seems to be decay and demolition, starting at Beeching, through rationalisation, service cutbacks, to the recent loss of the travelling post office, it's all been negative. Demand means they NEED to expand Filton Abbey Wood, reinstate a line...
Now all that needs to happen is the abolition of precast concrete platforms and sterile flat-pack station "buildings" (bus shelters), and to get people to once again take pride in their work and create beautiful AND functional architecture, unique to every location, and staff them all with people who care...
Oh and the return of steam of course
