37s for Weymouth Summer Saturdays!
37s for Weymouth Summer Saturdays!
Nat 37670 on SWRG reports:
"It's just been agreed that FGW will charter from Riviera top/tail EWS
37s to Weymouth as a summer Saturday turn, mainly as relief to the 1721
back from Weymo which will be a wedge-out even as a 5-car unit. Also
two top/tail sets in operation for Glastonbury, originally 67s but
could well see the Weymo 37s on one set."

Anyone know if 37's are now actually being used on Summer Saturday Bristol-Weymouth services? If so, I will plan a special day out for myself so I can enjoy a nice long journey(or two) aboard these superb trains.
On a related note about the 67's being used for Swindon/Westbury-Castle Cary shuttles for the Glastonbury festival, I was lucky enough to travel on one when travelling to the Festival on the 20th June. Was waiting for the scheduled 1221 departure from Westbury. Then an announcement over the PA system announced all passengers for Glastonbury to make their way over to platform 1 for a special service to Castle Cary only. Made my way over and along came a double headed Class 67 with 6 Virgin mk2 carriages. Only about a 17 minute journey to Castle Cary, but very nice journey it was too. On the way back, it was also an additional special service I was travelling on(Castle Cary-London Paddington), though it was just an HST. The next service after that(about 10-15 mins later) would have been a shuttle to Swindon again hauled by the double headed Class 67.
Anyway, confirmation as to whether Class 37's are actually now being used on Summer Saturday Bristol-Weymouth services would be great.

Thanks Madhattie. Whilst 67's aren't the same as 37's, I think it's still worthy of me getting down that way to make use of these special workings.
I take it it's just the 1721 Weymouth-Bristol which is hauled by the 67's then? And there are no 67's hauling services to Weymouth on Saturday's?
Cheers.
