"... I opened the gate, drove forward, closed the gate behind me and then went to go and open the gate in front. Then I heard this train and I noticed there was train tracks..."

Just as astounding is even though she will have seen all of the usual warning signs, and a green / red light advising whether it was safe to cross, apparently she didn't realise that she was at a level crossing.
How on earth a driver cannot recognise a warning signed, gated level crossing when she sees one, I'll never know. I can only surmise that the standards of some driver training establishments has slipped somewhat.
It seems that not too long ago, everybody knew what a level crossing was and looked like, even if they didn't drive. More importantly, they knew how to act responsibly when crossing one.
Rant over.
Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

What i fail to understand is the report says that the car turned onto the tracks, how it could not be felt. level crossings have rip rap bars each side of them , how you drive over them without feeling it is beyond me. unless the car was perfect gauge and was on top of the rails, again the feeling of the sleepers must be feelable, that is if the car wasn't bottomed on the rails. To me there is more to this than meets the eye. On her way to see her boyfriend, in a state of emotional bliss etc. etc. The whole story seems so strange. If the sat nav. was being followed as was said again iy begs a question, what sat nav. shows a railway as a road. None that i know of. No London taxis have yet been seen using the heathrow rail link instead of the M4, well not yet anyway.
