The Christmas Great Western 2nd December 2006
6024 (King Edward I) returns to the Bristol area this Saturday, with a charter from Willesden to Bath and return. Although passengers alight at Bath, 6024 continues to Bristol (with the ECS) for servicing.

Went over to Bathwick to photograph 6024 passing by, held up by slow traffic in Bath. Parked car and then discovered that the train was 10 minutes early, and it was at Bath Station. Has anyone managed to get out today with a camera to record this visitor. Great day for photography. Wasn't the only one surprised by the early running. one chap had his two sons in tow, all three were disappointed not to see the King.

Have been browsing 'elsewhere' on the web - noticed this link which shows Class 67 and King Edward I at Temple Meads on Saturday evening.

I was impressed.

6024 KING EDWARD 1
Unfortunately KE 1 could not take last saturdays trip back to London due to Flat Batteries for the TPWS, hence the diesel pilot.
To cap a bad day KE1 developed a hotbox on the tender on the return trip and will undergo repairs ASAP.
