Midland Mainline HST Set

Post by Bartonhillbum »

Has FGW taken over Midland Mainline ?
As I have now seen the 8 car set twice (in Midland Mainline livery) whilst standing at Lawrence Hill awaiting the the Severn Beach Train.

The set is on-hire to Virgin as they are a Voyager short due to the incident at York a while back.

Voyager 221136, involved in the incident at Copmanthorpe, near York, is expected to be out of service for around six months.
Virgin XC hire a spare MML set to work the 06.05 Derby - Plymouth and return if Voyager availability dips, which it usually does. Despite the fact that VXC were robbed of their HST's a couple of years ago, traincrews still retain traction knowledge, undergoing refresher training where required.

What happened to 221136? I've probably read about it, but I'm so used to Voyager failures that I just dismissed it...

I think its the voyager involved in a high speed collision with a car on a level crossing?

um shouldn't that read: gave them back so they could have voyagers instead?

there was a notice on Glos station in the summer from Virgin saying how sorry they were thatcusotmers would have to use HSTs on some of the summer specials and how the extra luggage room and space for passengers etc wasn't virgin's idea of a quality train - or words to that effect

:)
