July looks a great time to be a Bristolian!

I got a cheapo megatrain ticket from Plymouth for evening of 28 July and back on 31 July; enabling me to do the trips to Weymouth on 29th and Kingswear on 30th.

Can anyone please recommend a good B&B in Bristol?

6024 8TH JULY

The outward working to Bristol will be the Bi centenary special and the return on the same day will be the wedding anniversary special.
Although this is a private charter using VSOE stock it is open now to the general public.

Unfortunately The Devonian is no longer starting from Bristol, 6024 will be hauling the train from Westbury and coming off the train at Taunton on the way back.

THE DEVONIAN

Post by DAVE »

The trip this saturday that was originally steam hauled by 6024 The King and later revised to be steam hauled Westbury, Plymouth return instead of Bristol has been cancelled "totally" due to Network Rail having pathing difficulties! What a shambles Network Rail are!
The revised date that RTC are now giving is October 7th Paddington, BTM ,Plymouth return.
I believe the King has been booked by the WSR for the Autumn gala that weekend so the plot deepens!

I like the shots from behind the engine - very unusual.

I was at Keynsham with an unfamiliar camera, and only managed three shots: one doesn't show the train at all, one is a blur of tender and first coach, and the last is ok I guess but uses a bucket load of zoom.

I hope 60009 Union of South Africa is out on Sunday (The Torbay Express), but I suspect it'll be 6024 King Edward I.

Had intended to get to Sydney Gardens, then Bathampton Junction, but was delayed.

Ended up at the bridge by the George at Bathampton, should have gone to the crossing after the Junction.

Ought to try to find vantage spot between Bathampton and Bradford.

What is taking the Torbay Express to Kingswear on Sunday?

It would appear to be 6024 King Edward I.

I cycled along the towpath on Wednesday when photographing Tangmere at Westbury, photographing from the Aquaducts should be quite good.

My photographs of 45231 on The Cathedrals Express yesterday.

Where were the two on the left taken? Your front on shot looks good (2nd left), I didn't have a filter or lens hood, but I tried to manipulate images in Photoshop.

A couple of shots show it using the 'wrong line', does anyone know why? :?

They were taken from the bridge on the Bristol side of Twerton Tunnel.
