The Missing Links

Post by madhattie »

(witty title don't you think...  )

At the risk of showing just how much still needs to be done on the website I'm inviting everyone to list things they've come looking for and not found, as well as listing obvious holes that need filling.

Then, I (we) can attempt to plug the gaps and delete whatever's listed here.

Some obvious starters for ten:

Get listing... 8) :P

Updated List:

Atlas Locomotive Works
Bath Road Depot road entrance.
Original Bristol Parkway.
Original Filton Junction station.
Kingswood Junction
Royate Hill viaduct.

It might be useful Pete for you to define the boundaries of the site - if its going to cover down as far as Jame's pictures of Frome and Westbury there is a whole new chunk of lines that end up needing to be covered......

It's Andrew Ross' fault that I have so many out of area locations on here, he takes a good pic! :D

Generally speaking I've followed Alex's (stumpytrain) suggestion that the area covered by the website is bounded by the Bristol panel signalbox. (doesn't work for closed lines of course!)

For the missing links I would suggest starting with obviously Bristol ones. Stuff that kinda slaps you in the face by not being here.

What are the boundries of the Bristol Panel Signalbox? Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.

Thanks

Right, running clockwise starting in the south!

1) Just south of Brigwater (Exeter)
2) Sea Mills (St. Andrews)
3) Henbury (St. Andrews)
4) Pilning (Newport)
5) Charfield (Gloucester)
6) Badminton (Swindon)
7) West of Thingly Jcn. (Swindon)
8) Bradford OA (Westbury)

We control the Portbury Branch (NSTR - No Signalman Token), Westerleigh Branch (Called "C2" as that's the section in in the Sectional Appendix dealing with it, basically a long siding), Tytherington (One Train Working with a staff) but not the sidings at St. Phillips Marsh HST Depot, that's done by the shunter in the "Wendy House."

Thanks Alex,

The reason for the request was that last weekend I thought I'd have a go at recreating the Bristol Railway Map http://www.bristol-rail.co.uk/images/br ... waymap.jpg however I wasn't sure how much to include. The intention was a cross between the london undergound maps (i.e. straight/diagonal lines where possible) and a conventional map (i.e. like the existing one).

This is still very much work in progress, eventually the disused stations and lines will be in different colours etc, I'm sure I've made lots of errors so comments are welcome!!

Looks great!

Here's my suggestions for some additional coloured spots:

Needs a spot at the end of the Midland Line for the MR Kingsland Road station.

Stations on the Camerton line (from Hallatrow - not sure if the order is 100% correct):

Radford & Timsbury
Camerton
Dunkerton Colliery Halt
Dunkerton
Coombe Hay Halt
Engine Wood
Midford (#2)
Paulton
Monkton Combe
Limpley Stoke

(See some great pics here:
