1. Request for photographs of Milverton station from the off-track side (i.e looking towards the station building).
Obviously this type of photo might be in someone's "family history" group of pics. You know the type - Uncle and new car arrives to collect nephew - etc.
Photo's of Hapsford Junction (Frome), Whatley Quarry Line especially pre 1974 when it went through Vallis Vale.
I have all too briefly seen a deisel (?) shunter at the point where the pre 1974 line went under the main road (there was a works and siding there).
This may have been one of Roger Sellick's photos.
Anyone have any photos of this locality??
Anyone know the current whereabouts of the R.J. Sellick archive (if any exists)?

Excellent photos Simon. I like the photo of Shepton Mallet. I think I read a post on the Lost Railways group recently that said the whole area was to be redeveloped sometime soon.Mavmaramis wrote: If you are interested in disused railways/canals you might also be interested in the following gallery:

I don't know how much can be placed opn the "rumours" I heard regarding Shepton Mallet.
I heard vaguely the same story from a number of sources.
Basically the "grand scheme" was to extend the East Somerset Railway as far as Shepton Mallet.
I'm kind of thinking that's a bit difficult as some of the line has been built on by a whopping great warehouse. Also the bridge over the S&D line at Cannard's Grave has been removed.
(I did explore across this bridge when it was still in situ but have no photos)
The other side is people's back gardens.

Well I used to work at the ESR and there was never any real desire to make it to Shepton Mallet. An occasional dream maybe, but the finances were never there to even keep what they had going, let alone extend it. And I believe their finances got even worse and they only just about kept going. (although things are supposedly looking up somewhat nowadays)
I believe the current proposals for the Shepton Mallet station site is that the whole lot is being flattened and a new Tescos is going up in its place. There's definately a new Tescos going up nearby, I just can't find out (online) if the station site is definately getting the chop.

Hi,
The R J Sellick railway photo collection is at the NRM - lists are available but are a bit terse - but because the Library is now going to be closed for a year or so presumably you won't be able to access them. The rest of his historical archive (general Somerset, especially Exmoor, stuff) is at the County Records Office in Taunton.
If you ever find a photo of the roadside elevation of Milverton let me know - I've been looking for years!
