CITY FANS THROWN OFF TRAIN
Rowdy Bristol City fans were thrown off a train by British Transport Police after their team's draw at home against Scunthorpe. About 20 fans boarded the train at Parson Street in Bedminster at 6.30pm on Saturday but Wessex Trains staff refused to let it pull away because of the behaviour of the fans. British Transport Police were called and the fans ejected.
A BTP spokesman said the group had been "aggressive" and banged on the side of the train at the station and were abusive to staff.
A group of about 25 Bristol Rovers fans were not much better behaved after their away match in Cheltenham.
The BTP spokesman said a passenger rang the police to report that a group of drunken fans had boarded the train at Cheltenham and had become abusive towards buffet staff who refused to sell them beer.
The BTP spokesman said: "We have taken a statement from the witness and will be looking at CCTV footage to see if any of the fans can be identified."
Most of the Rovers fans left the train at Bristol Parkway station.
No one was arrested.
