The map on this site's homepage is very incomplete. Where is Warmley station? What about Kelston? And all the stations between Yate and Gloucester? And Gloucester Eastgate? What about the two Branches from Yatton - the one to Clevedon and the Cheddar Valley line? And why is every place name spelt with a lower-case first letter except Dursley? - Martin Bennett

Hi Martin.

Yeah, the map is incomplete. Like a lot of things concerning the website there is still 'much to do' :)

I think it took me something like 2-3 hours just to get it to that stage, at which point the whole exercise had sufficiently bored me for me to abandon it until another time.

Unfortunately, the 'another time' has not yet arrived

A very restrained response.......... keep up the excellent work, just wish I had the time to put together something half as good as this.

I hadn't realised this had been drawn by a contributor and had assumed it to be professional. The unidentified 'Guest' has missed the point. Constructive suggestion is intended to eventually result in improvement, which is surely the point of a growing website like this. It is not criticism for its own sake - in fact it isn't criticism at all. What's the problem? If contributors are restrained from pointing out omissions no improvements would ever happen. Winterbourne and Coalpit Heath are also missing. Winterbourne was about where Bristol Parkway is shown. Parkway itself is further west, right at the junction.

I like the use of the word 'eventually'

Every page on the website has a list of names of people who have contributed information with ommissions and other mistakes I've made (and I've made plenty!) etc. Keep 'em coming, the website is a better place because it has plenty of people who are willing to spend a few moments of their time helping me to make it better. That's the way I like it. 8)

Boiling Wells

Post by jules »

Well, I've only found one mistake (not that I've been looking very hard)!

Here goes: Boiling Wells is geographically between Narroways Hill Jc. and Ashley Hill Stn., not North of Ashley Hill as currently listed.

Good site this.

Have you been out to Farrington yet to see what remains of the GWR Bristol to Frome line there. The embankments there behind the church.
But little remains of anything else. The humpback bridge was removed years ago so i was told.
This line really has took a kicking by the developers. :(

I've photographed some sections of the line in and around Midsomer Norton, and bits and bobs around Radstock, but not much else. I normally try to stop and get at least one new location whenever I'm out and about in that area, but I've not been down there at all for a couple of months.

As you say, the developers are really bashing the line, and I really need to get my finger out and record what's left before it's too late!

Yep. The short sighted morons have done a good job. There lack vision never fails to amaze me.
I little glimmer of hope for the remainder is that BANES have now safe guarded whats left as sustainable transport routes under PPG13.
Whether or not it will make much difference.
