TEMPLE MEADS MAKES SPACE FOR CYCLISTS

11:00 - 29 November 2005

Cyclists using Bristol Temple Meads now have more than 300 places to park their bikes after First Great Western increased the number of spaces. As part of a ú16,000 plan, the train company has installed more than 200 extra bike spaces at stations between Plymouth, Bristol and London.

First Great Western has teamed up with the Department for Transport and the national cyclists' organisation, CTC. The work was carried out in response to a CTC survey which said that more spaces were needed and now Temple Meads has 302 free bike spaces.

First Great Western's transport integration manager, Jonathan Radley, said: "This extra cycle parking adds to existing provision and we hope it will make it easier for cyclists to find a space, particularly at busy times."

But not spaces on trains, so you can't cycle at both ends of your journey
