Avonmouth - Bromford Bridge oil traffic

Can anyone tell me when the Avonmouth - Bromford Bridge 'Esso' oil trains ceased running? I remember them from the mid- to late-60s and there were generally two loaded trains northwards and two trains of empties southbound per day. Although they were timetabled via Hallen Marsh, Stoke Gifford and Westerleigh West I wonder whether anyone can recall seeing them coming up the Midland from Ashley Hill Jcn as a result of diversions in which case did they require banking assistance even with a 9F up front?
