Visitors will have the opportunity to see some of the railway routes that could form future additions to the Bristol passenger network, thanks to a special charter train that will run over lines currently used only for freight services.

A station gala featuring stalls and information about Community Rail Partnerships throughout the UK is also being planned and will be based at Bristol Temple Meads Station.

Each train is limited to 100 seats. So please order your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

I have never actually ever travelled on the Portishead branch. It was the last closure in this neck of the woods that "got away" before I had the chance to get down there
