GWR No. 5521 to visit Bitton

Post by john2006 »

It is expected that GWR Small Prairie No. 5521 will be arriving at Bitton in the immediate future for a short stay of a few weeks. The engine will be visiting from its current home at the Swindon and Cricklade Railway - this being its second time at Bitton, having previously visited in 2009.

The exact details of its arrival and the duration of stay are to be confirmed but it is likely that the 4575 Class locomotive will haul some of our scheduled steam services over the next few weeks.

Further details will be released as and when they become available but please keep an eye on our website, especially the locomotive roster page that details the roster for the forthcoming week.

Alternatively you can keep up to date by following us on twitter - @avrbitton

Thanks for the info. When more news appears I'll add it to the South West Rail Gen and Wilt Avon Gen websites. That will bring in extra revenue. <BJ>

Thanks free2grice.

No. 5521 arrived yesterday and will be undergoing its mechanical exam today.

For info, it's facing towards Bath (bunker first to Oldland).

A picture or two will appear on twitter and here (hopefully) later today.

Now that the loco is in service I have transferred any updates to the 'Sightings and Gen' category. <BJ>

Thanks for that. I have posted the details to SWRG and Wiltshire Avon Gen to get a few more 'bums on seats'. <BJ>
