U-turn on pay to park at station is welcomed

Commuters have won their battle to park for free at a Worle railway station.
Hordes of commuters started travelling by car to work in protest over charges introduced at the Parkway station car park.
Wessex Trains started charging drivers ú2 a day, or ú340 a year, to park at the site earlier this year.
Passengers still using the service parked in roads around the station and as far away as Queens Way and Worle High Street to avoid the charges.
Councillors for the area, Colin Golland, Sally Tabrett and Andy Wright, campaigned to get the charges scrapped and launched a petition.
Wessex Trains has now decided parking will be free again.
Phil Read, of Kewstoke Road, travels to Abbeywood station in Bristol every day with 60 colleagues who work for the Ministry of Defence.
He said: "I was outraged when the charges came in and it is nice to see that Wessex Trains has finally seen sense and done a complete u-turn.
"The car park machine is now taped up with a small sign saying that parking is free again.
"Presumably this is because it was uneconomical with an average of about five cars a day paying. It shows that if everyone takes positive action we can beat faceless corporations."
