Remember the long stickers that used to be affixed to the last passenger window in each coach. They were white with black type, and listed in LARGE LETTERS the ultimate destination with intermediate stops in a smaller typeface. I am looking for someone who might own a genuine original, a copy or photo of the following:
Aberdeen to Penzance and/or:
any train calling at Bristol which continued north of Edinburgh and was booked to stop at Dalmeny (south end of Forth Bridge). I have lived in Bristol virtually all my life but was born in Dalmeny. I discovered that one train per day did this and promised myself I would make the trip. Alas it was a one season phenonomen and has never occured since.
If anyone has either of these items I would be gateful if they could possibly e-mail a photocopy or digital photo to me.
Thanks guys

Hi there, I have dozens of said window stickers and sure I have an Penzance to Aberdeen so will have to check, used to be quite popular back in the 80's nabbing a window sticker from your journey, scottish ones were popular and named trains such as The Royal Scot and The Clansman which I have the originals of ! Fortunatey I have a Cardiff to Portsmouth one which used to be one of the most regular diagrams in the Bristol area which I believe died off in the latter days of loco haulage.

Had a chance to grab an Aberdeen - Penzance sticker when I returned to Bristol Parkway one afternoon from Cheltenham. As the train pulled into Parkway an old lady asked if I could help with her luggage. By the time I got her off, the station staff slammed the door, peep, and away it went. No sticker, and I never used that service again - ah well!
