That's Riviera's 47815 which is used on a Friday to move the tour stock from Temple Meads to Barton Hill and back for servicing. Whether it gets used to move the stock on the days the Torbay Express actually runs I don't know. 47815 was a resident at Barton Hill last summer too and occasionally gets used to work other trains if the need arises.mow wrote:Can any one please offer any other details of the Class 47 amongst other things?

I was on that train. The class 47 was provided/demanded by Network Rail because DoG hadn't conducted any mainline testing subsequent to her recent 'outage'. The diesel was shut down and running as dead weight until the gradients and curves of the Kingswear branch. There the combined weight of carriages and a dead Class 47 got the better of 71000, and the diesel was sparked up to help get the train moving again. On the return run, the 47 was shut down again at Paignton.á

Is that normal practice? I find it somewhat worrying to hear that a steam loco hadnt undertaken any mainline testing after recent troubles....Ade H wrote:I was on that train.
