Signals Bath Spa

Post by nickt »

Anyone noticed new signal has been put up just out of station on down line. Is this to replace the one currently further out over bridge which relied on a banner repeater as it offered poor visibility.

I understand that some resignalling is taking place in the Bristol Panel area as a prelude to the transfer to the Thames(?) signalling centre.

There are a number of new signals being installed between Keynsham Station (new B10 signal) and Bathampton junction where the two signals MD36R and 105 have been upgraded to LED. Also 106 signal and MD36 signal (Sydney Gardens) have been upgraded to LED.
Westmoreland Yard signals 175 and 75 have also been replaced with LED versions.
The new ones you can see from Bath Spa are a new RA indicator and B6 signal is being renewed in a different position.

From my memory there are the following NEW signals being installed.

B10 - Keynsham
B73 - By the old S & D Bridge
B99 - Accessed via pickfords, but a bit difficult to spot when not on a train
B6 - This is replacing the existing B6 signal. Has basically the same functionallity
There is also a 3 state Banner Repeater being installed and I cannot for the life of me remember the number. But basically its the first of its type on the WR as it can display ON, OFF and ON in GREEN.

I will write more as I remember it!

Nothing to do with the transfer of control to Didcot, this work has been on the cards for ages.

Basically the additional signal sections are to improve headways through Bath Spa and Keynsham (on the down).
