Can remember Pug 51218 at Barrow road in the late fifties early sixties, cannot remember any Patriots stabled there at that time but did "cop" a few there in those years.
Scots were quite regular visitors however, 46100 Royal Scot being a notable visitor in that time.
The sheds resident Jubilees ...

Not been on this forum for quite sometime and have now retired to Bideford.
This topic certainly "caught" my eye as my train spotting days in Bristol started in 1958.
The date for some of the photos is slightly later as two of the Warships shown were delivered from Swindon in April/May 1959 [D804 ...

Barrow Road

Barfleur, Trafalgar and the now preserved Leander were the last Jubilees to be allocated to this shed in the late fifties early sixties.
51218 was from memory a saddle tank that used to do lots of shed shunting etc.
Never saw a V2 on shed but certainly B1's were regular visitors in the early sixties ...

Introduced in 1890 the train took 8hours 42 minutes to reach Penzance from Paddington via BTM, Exeter, Plymouth.
In 1896 the first portion from Paddington to Exeter was non stop using the BTM avoiding line and at that time was the ...

Hymeks.

This was in the heyday of my trainspotting.
I can clearly remember "copping" many brand new Hymeks straight from the works at BTM.
In fact the entire class at this time was allocated to either 82A Bath road or 88A Cardiff Canton when new out of the works.
The entire class up to and including D7100 ...

If the city council can get the depot built by Thursday of this week we can see the King, Tangmere "resting" on shed and Oliver Cromwell calling in for servicing! Not a bad start for the "new" depot!

From what I remember Brits became more common in this part of the world after the withdrawal of the Jubilees etc etc.
The Barrow road three as we used to call them were Leander, Barfleur and Trafalgar and I remember them running lots of services to and from Bristol from Sheffield/Derby Brum etc. I ...

Horace I would also believe it was a Saturday and could possibly be 1963.
I can recall at that time a number of "foreign" visitors to Bristol from the Eastern region arrived on various specials etc including a couple of B1's, 70000 Britannia was a Norwich engine at that time and would probably ...
