Its great news about Britain from above, I just wish they had done it a few years ago.

There are only 2 of Mangotsfield, but they do have quite a few more to come, which may yet show detail hitherto not see.

Morning all,

Over the course of the last two years research into Mangotsfield has continued. At the same time I came into contact with someone also trying to model the station and between us we have made progress.

The progress though has raised questions on parts of the internal layout of the ...

Another daft question.

I know that at least 1 fowler 2-6-4 42338 made it through on a PW train a in 1955, but apart from that were the Fowler, Stanier or Fairburn tanks ever seen on Gloucester to Bristol trains.

I realise that they would probably have to have been borrowed although I know they got ...

Re: Locos at Mangotsfield

Hello again.

Just an update on the Prairies.
The last North Somerset line steam workings appear to have been Barrow Road duties.

4103/31 were transferred from SPM to Barrow Rd in October 1962, both were withdrawn whilst at 82E Aug/Sept 1964.

6148 was transferred 82B - 82E March `63.
Left Barrow ...

Thanks for the replies with ideas on specific locos which were seen. I have got a set of negatives showing the ex GW railcar at Bath and at Bitton.

Certainly Modelling the Somerset and Dorset makes reference to GW small praries.

The class 3s arrived i think in about 1959/60.

Its also interesting to read of the engines that ran through. Many thanks for your help

Kind regards

Hi Martin,

The buildings behind the walls are indeed a bit of an inigma. The station masters house was definatley behind the Gloucester platform. Through my ongoing researches I have been able to get some photos of those buildings in the early 80s just before their demolition. (drop me a PM and i ...

Locos at Mangotsfield

Hi all,

Wonder if you can help, I am trying to find out whether the LMS twins ever ran down to Bristol?

I am also trying to tie down ex GW locos that ran over the Midland lines. I know that Halls, Granges, 43xx and Castles were seen, but wondered if anyone had any lists at all?

Kind regards

Hi John,

I could help you with photos as i have a good epsom scanner that will do up to A4 size photos.

Have you tried a library or printers to see if they have anything larger, A3 scanners are usually only found in business settings.

The other way round would be to get the diagrams reduced via a ...

New photos and information found!

Hi All,

just a quick update. I have arranged to see the MR land Agent plans at the Midland Study Centre in September so we will see what that brings.

I have also seen a photo copy of the photos available from English Hertiage, though sadly I have not yet seen the aerial photos. Two of the photos ...

Ladies Waiting room
