Very nice pictures. That bit of line along the Avon valley is so attractive, I'm always surprised that photographers in the steam era seem to have generally ignored it; you might have thought it would be a favourite spot with, say, Ivo Peters or George Heiron. I wonder if anybody ever managed to get a shot showing trains simultaneously on the Great Western and Midland lines.

The King returns again on June 30th and July 5th, both trips from London to Bristol.
I think that it goes down to Plymouth on 8th July from BTM.
Parking on near that embankment can be a little problematic, so ended up heading for Sydney Gardens in Bath yesterday for a picnic. Funny how the chosen location just happened to be close to the main line.... Quite a few people enjoyed the sight and sound of the King. Wished that I had stayed closer to track level.
Shame that some of the warehouses near Bath Station aren't accessible, great view from their top stories of the viaduct en route for Bath.

I saw it in all it's splendour from Saltford RFC's pitch.
What sort of an idiot forgets their camera on a day like that.....

Excellent photos, i suppose in Steam days that area wasn't too accessable -prior to the by-pass being built, hence the lack of photos(?)

...and
here's some video, taken about 90 seconds after BristleGWR's shots.
Okay, it's rather shaky and taken from too far away, but it's not
too bad for a first try
Gary
PS It's 4MB, in DivX (MPEG-4) AVI format because I'm not sure I have a suitable WMV codec.
PPS You have to right-click the link and "Save Target As..." as I can't see how to embed video links using BBCode

couldn't seem to get the video link to work when I tried it this evening.
Is it just me that can't get it to work.

Hi mow, sorry you can't get the video to play

.
You probably just need to download the codec from
www.divx.com.
Follow the links marked
DivX for Windows 6.2.
I've tried compressing the clip in other formats, but it ends up blocky, jerky, huge or combinations thereof.
