It's a complete load of nonsense promoted by a company that has to find a way to deal with it's waste now that they're not allowed to bury it in the ground.

If the tramway is shared with road transport then what happens if a car breaks down, or if there's a traffic jam, or if you get a 'sunday driver' ambling along at 25mph?

At some point the road traffic on the tramway will have to join the 'proper' road system. In Bristol this means gridlock, traffic lights, bus lanes, people parked across yellow boxes etc. The tram would go nowhere.
